The Biggest Little Farm is an award-winning feature documentary directed by John Chester that follows the transformation of Apricot Lane Farms from depleted industrial farmland into a fully functioning regenerative ecosystem.
Filmed over nearly a decade, the film documents the reintroduction of biodiversity and the ecological relationships between wildlife, soil, crops, and livestock, revealing how natural systems can restore balance and resilience to agriculture. The film is widely regarded as one of the most influential environmental documentaries of its generation.
In 2012, during the farm’s formative years, André conceived and developed a real-world research framework within the emerging regenerative system. He designed the monitoring structure, established measurable intervention protocols, and built a field-based methodology to evaluate whether wildlife integration could restore ecological balance. His work created an early structure for observing and interpreting biodiversity-driven pest regulation in practice, informing farm management decisions and contributing to the scientific and narrative direction that later shaped The Biggest Little Farm.
